TDA Statement
TDA has received concerns from dentists regarding the security of the Summit PPE website for ordering N95 respirators. There have been reports of some fraudulent credit card charges by dentists who ordered respirators through the website. Summit has processed approximately 8,000 PPE orders for Texas dentists through this program.
At TDA’s request, Summit has conducted a thorough investigation of the website security, which included a third-party forensic IT analysis and two other IT inspections. To date, the findings indicate there was no breach in the website security or payment processing gateway with Authorize.Net, a Visa Solution that compromised credit cards used on the website.
As a leading payment gateway, Authorize.Net is trusted by more than 430,000 merchants, handling more than 1 billion transactions and $149 billion in payments each year. Summit is exclusively using Authorize.Net for all credit cards transactions (view certificate). Credit card information is not handled or stored with Summit. Credit card numbers provided on summitppe.com are fully encrypted and securely transmitted to Authorize.Net for processing.
In addition, Summit uses Astra for website security and has a team of certified Google engineers, certified Microsoft technicians, and other IT personnel to safeguard its website from any cyberattacks.
The evidence indicates the Summit PPE website is secure and safe to use. TDA has reviewed the documentation and agrees with this assessment.
